Gearing Up for Fall Quilt Market

Fall quilt market starts in just two weeks and this will be the first time I fly to Houston, TX to attend the show! I'm really excited about the event and launching my new fabric designs with Island Batik. I've also created a new Isacord thread set so this week I switched back to free motion quilting to finish this sample:

And Ta Da! It's finished!

I want the center letters to stand out better so I'm thinking about painting them with red metallic, glittery paint. What do you think?

I'm off to prepare more things for market!

  1. I don't think red will make them stand out. I'd satin stitch (or paint) them the light aqua that surrounds your name.
Great choice to use nontraditional colors in your rainbow:)

  2. I think red might blend in. White or silver would stand out.

  3. Wowza! This looks amazing. I'm sure whatever you decide about the letters will be perfect. Have a great time at Quilt Market.

  4. Maybe outline them in a thick white thread, like 28 weight? That might not be enough, but it would be an easy solution. This is gorgeous!

  6. I'm so happy for you. Just wish I could attend Market this year, but not a good logistical fit for me. But I'll be thinking about you and hope you have a great time. Please take plenty of pictures to share.

  7. I hope you are going to try that on a sample first. I like it like it is. I can't imagine it looking any better! Very nice. You are one of my favorite teachers. I have learned a lot from you. Thanks.

  8. I really love this piece. I would keep it as it is. I do tend to be little more subtle in things. I love your mix of meanderings, so great!! I am so excited that you have a line with Island Batik and a variety of thread. You have truly earned that!

  9. I like it the way it is. I think red would blend into the red that is there now. Maybe do a sample with just the word the and try it. It could make it more beautiful, sometimes you just can't tell till you try it! Have fun at Quilt Market and everyone will be eagerly awaiting for news when you get back.

  10. I would leave the letters the way they are. While you can read them just fine, the red quilting stands out well against them. Beautiful piece of work, Leah! Safe travels!

  12. I think painting or satin stitching in a lime green or aqua blue would really make those words pop!

  13. How about a variegated thread?

  14. Lovely design, Leah. The words do sort of get lost in the red bubbles/pebbles surrounding. Perhaps the red glitter paint would be fine if the glitter is dense enough.

  16. I would paint the letters red, right now I think that your name takes Center stage/ catches your eye first. Unless you wanted the name to stand out so people know who's booth it is immediately. The Quilting is strong enough to stand on its own.
