Videocast #2 - T-Shirt Quilts on Flickr

Thank you all for your supportive and understanding posts about the McAfee thing. I have gotten an email back saying they will take the red flag down, but that it may take several days for the reclassification to be uploaded. In essence - the warning may stay up for another week or so.

So let's just move on. Josh helped me shoot this videocast last night and unfortunately it finished out a lot darker than the first. Hmmm...something to work on!

First off, if you haven't checked out the flickr group account, click here!

This is a special area where you can upload photos to your flickr account and share them in the group flickr pool so everyone can see how you're using designs from this project.

One member named Nickersmarie posted over 30 photos of her awesome T-Shirt quilt blocks! She used a different quilting design in each block and is using a Quilt as You Go technique to put them together.

I started a new topic asking Nickersmarie to share some tips on quilting her T-Shirt Quilts, so if you want to learn more about them, definitely check out these photos and her tips on stabilizing the fabric before quilting. You can even post more questions for her in the discussion in case you don't understand something about the process!

I'm super excited about this flickr group because it's allowing me to see and connect with quilters that are using and loving the designs. There's some pretty amazing quilts already posted so definitely check it out right here today.

In the videocast I also shared a bit about the many Flower Bouquet quilts I'm working on in the studio. The table is literally covered with different appliqued wall hangings!

It's fun to play with the different fabrics and quilting combinations so I'm probably going to make several of these because they're short, sweet, and so much fun.

So that's it for this week! I'm heading downstairs to get back to Hot Cast and finally start the quilting process. I'll definitely be posting more on that quilt soon!

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day

  1. Great video, the details on your quilts show up much better. Its was also nice to see where you are going with your design spin offs on the flower quilts, so often we rush on to the next quilt without exploring what else we could do with the one we have just finished!

  2. Really enjoying your videos. Keep them coming. I think it's just nice to see that such a talented person is actually normal! Sometimes we can get these disorted visions that all these artists/quilters we admire must be mega-super-women with no lives ;)

  3. People are posting really inspiring work in the Flickr group!

  4. I am so inspired by the quilts on the Flikr group. Last night I couldn't get back to sleep because I was interrupted by thinking about how I was going to turn a charity quilt into a sampler of designs from the the Project.

I only wish that there was some way to zoom in on the quilting images on Flikr.

  5. Hi Leah, what a wonderful post. Also, hat tip to you for starting the quilt group on Flickr.

By the way, I'm not sure if "Normanack" is in your group yet or if you've seen her quilt photos on Flickr but she's got some really good ones. Happy Friday!
