Perfect Recipe for a Saturday

This is Josh today for a quick and fun recipe. I hope you're having a great weekend!

Today's recipe may not be for everyone, but it's a great summertime drink and ideal for barbecues or around the pool.
Bloody Beer

1 frosty, tall pilsner glass
1 bottle or can of beer of your choice (cheap beer is perfect as the next ingredient will overwhelm most of the natural, malty beer flavor)
2-3 Tbs high quality tomato juice (or Clamato or V8)
Dash of Louisiana hot sauce
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Dash of celery salt
Dash of finely ground, fresh black pepper
1 lemon or lime wedge
1 stiff green onion stalk
Handful of ice cubes

In pilsner glass add hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and ice cubes. Stir or shake to coat ice. Pour beer, preserving head. Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of tomato juice. Garnish with lime wedge and sprinkle black pepper and celery salt. Give a quick stir with green onion stalk.
In case you're not a beer fan, here's my favorite sweet cocktail. I made a lot of these for Leah when we first started dating in college. It's still her favorite mixed drink.
White Russian

1 part vodka
1/2 part Kahlua or coffee liqueur
Ice to fill cocktail glass
Cream or Half and Half to fill glass

Add liquor, cream, and ice. Stir well until incorporated. Milk can also be used but the drink will ultimately be inferior to one made with real cream or half and half.

  1. Sounds good Josh!!!! I think I could handle I know how Leah does all that FMQ so well; it's all in the now cream for the cream?? Want to be sure now; I want the full Josh

  2. Yum! Sounds good. Kids will all be home for the 4th, think I'll give them both a try!

  3. Lol Marjorie! That is so true! A glass of wine or mixed drink always makes free motion quilting a bit easier.

It's just regular half & half or heavy whipping cream for the White Russian.

I'm sure it could have some interesting flavors if you used the special coffee creams...hmmm..hazelnut white russian! Sounds divine!

  4. ooh, that bloody beer does sound good. and white russians are also my favorite!

  5. Sounds like a good drink after a night of a LOT of drinks ;c) ;c) ;c)

But yes. . . . a glass of wine DEF loosens up your FMQ muscles!!

  6. They both sound great but the beer would be perfect for me right now! Wish I had all the stuff to make it. I have tomato juice and Bud Light and some olives??

  7. Ah, but do you make your own kahlua? If I can find the recipe from my drinking days, I'll pass it along....

  8. YUM! I like the Clamato variation of the beer drink, with another little twist - a spear of pickled asparagus instead of a celery stalk. Let's see, clamato juice is tomato juice and clam nectar so that counts as a vegetable AND seafood, right? And the asparagus is more veg, so this is like health food!

  9. I always thought I was was drinking it, 'cause when my wife sees me having a beer she often says "bloody beer again!"
